William Coates are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the High Voltage Infrastructure Project for the EFW (Energy From Waste) Plant at Airport Road West, Belfast.

The project, located directly behind Belfast City Airport and Bombardier Aerospace’s C Series Factory will produce electricity circa 15MWe from refuse derived fuel feedstocks.

The plant will be capable of generating 15MWe of electricity at 11kV which will then be stepped up to 33kV for export to the grid. 10MW will be exported via Bombardier’s HV infrastructure and 5MW will be exported via a new connection being provided by Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE).

William Coates will be providing a full turnkey package for the project including HV design, controls, protection settings, boards, cabling, earthing and civil construction works.
